How Precision Laser Templating Ensures a Perfect Fit for Your Kitchen

Even the most expensive stone, cut from the finest slab, will look unprofessional if it does not fit correctly. Uneven overhangs, visible gaps against walls, misaligned sink cutouts — these are not problems caused by the stone. They are problems caused by inaccurate measurement. Precision laser templating eliminates them entirely.

Why Kitchens Are Never Perfectly Square

Every kitchen has walls that are naturally slightly out of square. Plasterwork varies in thickness. Corners are rarely true right angles. In older properties, these deviations can be significant. A worktop cut to standard right-angle dimensions will inevitably leave visible gaps where it meets the wall. The traditional fix — a thick bead of silicone — looks exactly as messy as it sounds. Laser templating solves this problem at source.

How Digital Laser Templating Works

Once your base cabinetry is permanently installed and levelled, a technician visits with specialist laser scanning equipment. The laser maps the exact three-dimensional profile of the space — accounting for every irregularity in the walls, the precise position of your sink and hob, and the exact dimensions of any cutouts required. This data is compiled into a precise digital blueprint and transmitted directly to CNC cutting machinery at the fabrication facility. The stone is cut to the exact millimetre specifications captured on site — not from an approximation.

What You Need to Prepare

  • Cabinetry must be fully installed and level. The template is taken from the base units. Any changes after templating will invalidate the measurements.
  • Sink and hob should be on site. The fabricator needs exact appliance dimensions to cut accurate apertures.
  • Finalise all specifications. Edge profiles, sink position, splashback requirements — confirm everything before the template appointment.

A template appointment typically takes one to two hours. At Stoneone, all installations begin with digital laser templating as standard, ensuring a seamless result on every project.
