A precise template is the foundation of a perfect worktop. Our skilled surveyors visit your home, take exact measurements using professional laser equipment, and translate them directly into CAD — so every cut is exact before a single piece of stone is touched.
What Is Templating?
Precision that makes the difference
Templating is the process by which one of our trained surveyors visits your property and captures every measurement needed to fabricate your worktops. Unlike paper or tape measure methods, we use professional digital laser instruments that feed directly into CAD software.
This means every angle, radius, cutout position, and dimension is captured to within half a millimetre — giving our fabrication team everything they need to cut your stone exactly right, first time.
Templating is included as standard with every Stoneone supply-and-install order. For supply-only orders, we offer templating visits as an add-on service.
On the Day
What to expect from your visit
Arrival & Survey
Your surveyor arrives at the agreed time, assesses the workspace, and discusses any final design preferences — edge profiles, cutouts, and upstands.
Laser Measurement
Using professional digital laser templating equipment, every dimension is captured with sub-millimetre accuracy directly into CAD software.
Confirmation & Next Steps
You receive a digital summary within 24 hours. Fabrication begins immediately, with installation typically scheduled 5–10 working days later.
Before We Arrive
What to prepare
To ensure your template visit runs smoothly and we can capture accurate measurements first time, please make sure the following is in place before your appointment.
- Kitchen base units fully fitted and level
- Sink and hob removed (or not yet installed)
- Plumbing accessible and turned off at the mains
- Any appliances that will sit under the worktop in position
- Clear access to the workspace — remove items from worktops
- Someone aged 18+ present throughout the visit
